Spring Palette Challenge Week Four!

Can you believe we’re already heading into week four of the Spring Palette Challenge? Yeesh. No need to feel you’re behind, though. After all, we’ve only had one week of sewing so far.

So here’s my blouse! It’s juuuust about done. After my button conundrum last week, I finally found what I think will be the right buttons. Those of you who follow me on twitter already saw my happiness at discovering this awesome button shop in Israel. I ended up buying a few different options for just a few dollars, including 100 (yes, one hundred) tiny glass pearl buttons!

I think this might be my new go-to blouse. It has it all: a comfortable loose fit that’s still flattering, really simple construction, an adorable collar. But the best part is that it really lends itself to variations. I can’t wait to do one in swiss dot with a vintage lace insertion! I don’t feel funny bragging about how awesome this pattern is because Caitlin did most of the work on it.

I decided to use French seams for the construction, which makes it just as pretty on the inside as outside. Don’t you love that? I also used silk organza for the interfacing, which is just perfect.

I’ll get some photos actually wearing it once the buttons arrive and are attached. In the meantime, I’m on to the next project. I’m thinking the eyelet dress from my plan, since I might be able to wear that sooner than shorts?

How are you guys doing? Be sure to post your progress in the forum thread!

Not yet! This is a sneaky little preview, I guess. It’s in the testing stage right now, and should be available in late March or April!

How pretty! I think I’ll switch my current blouse project (having to match plaid with princess seams doesn’t seem like a very good idea) with a sleeker, simpler one like yours…

Thank you for the button shop! I just made myself a present to celebrate the achievement of my first spring palette project ; I’ll post it on theforum as soon as I can take pictures.

This blouse is so pretty. I hope there will be a pattern available to purchase soon? I’ve looked for similar patterns on etsy but they aren’t as cute. I like the simplicity of this blouse. It seems timeless. I would always love this.

So funny that I’m going to make this pattern in opposite colours. The fabric I’ve chosen is ecru white with little yellow polkadots. :) I’m so looking forward to making this blouse.
