Weekend Reading + new pattern on Tuesday!
I hope you guys are looking forward to the new pattern next week. We’ve been working on it so long, I feel disconcerted about actually releasing it! I can’t believe it’s time to let it go off into the world.
Don’t forget to get on the sneak peek list if you want an early preview Monday and a special discount.
Here are a few things I’m reading right now.
Weekend Reading:
- How the plastic bag became so popular
-
Here’s a popular one from our archives: Ten ways to ruin your sewing
-
If you’re a woman interested in doing big things, check out Tara Mohr’s new book Playing Big. I recently read it and found Tara’s perspective very helpful and interesting.
-
On Snippets this week, we covered preventing seam bumps.
-
The problem with wearable technology is that it’s all pretty ugly.
-
“Whatever it is that makes you feel fantastic and free — you need to get three copies of that,” says Stevie Nicks.
-
It’s part of the nation’s “cultural sustainability to preserve these things,” Chanin says, “to be able to make our clothes.”
For more links every week, you can follow me on Twitter, where I’m always posting interesting tidbits I find.

Hi, I enjoy reading and learning from you. I didn’t receive your newsletter. I signed up to get a sneek preview of your new pattern awhile back – will I still get a prewiew? Thank you for all that you do and share.

It looks like you are subscribed to the list, Claudia! Just make sure that your mail program isn’t filtering any email from us. And if you use gmail, check your “promotions” tab. A helpful hint is that if you do find an email from us in the promotions tab and want to make sure you see them in the future, you can drag it out of promotions into the inbox and I believe it will be delivered there after that.

Your Dalila is just simply adorable, unfortunately I can’t see myself in it. I need design that’s more lined -not rounded. Hope I express myself clarly.
