What lovely prints. I am keen to try out the Cake Red Velvet pattern so a cute knit would be awesome. Any left overs could be made into undies. ….

I am so excited because my friend LOVES Charley Harper.
She gave me two Charley harper books when my daughter was born.
She loves them, too.
So now we all love him.
I would keep some of the fabric for me, and send some of it to my friend.
Shared joy is doubled joy (we say in german)

As a huge fan of Charley Harper’s works and a almost bigger enthusiast of patterned fabric, the new collection makes me dizzy with anticipation!
I want to touch all the designs, trying to find out how to combine them, developing idea after idea for cute skirts, bags or pillows. That’s what I’d be most likely to make of these lovely cloth. Also, I think my Mum would love the patterns very much as well, so I would make her something nice (most likely one or too small pillows).
The patterns are so happy and radiant with colour that they should be used to spread some of the fun =)

I would make a Crepe or possibly a shift dress, like Simplicity 1609, with the Red Eye Vireo. Such a sweet fabric!

ooooooohhhhh- pardon my ignorance but I never connected fabric worm with the fab organic Birch fabrics! learnt something new:) I can imagine gazillions of projects but with 5 yards- wow, I would be torn between the knit fabric in tomato twig (I’d make a dress and probably a t-shirt/cardi twin set) or the flannel for a supercuddly quit backing
Thanks for the giveaway!

Love these prints! For some reason I am thinking kitchen–need new curtains, with cotton poplin. Or some flannel pj’s & matching pillowcases would be awesome!

I only learned of Charley Harper just recently. As on Ohioan, I love his cardinals, our state bird. As far as what I would like to make, without seeing the fabrics, I thought I would like to make Cake’s Red Velvet dress. But as I looked at the photo of the fabrics, it came to me: If I won 5 yards I would buy my first Colette pattern and make a pair of Clover pants. and even though I am Plus size there will be fabric left over, so I would also make StyleArc’s Mindi skirt! And wear to the office…

I love the vibrant colors in this collection…and as far as what I would do with the 5 yards? Christmas gifts!!! Everyone I love would get something unique and useful in the same print!

What is not to love about Charley Harper??!! The colors, the prints, ORGANIC!!! My parents are avid bird watchers, and by avid, I mean A-V-I-D. They live, breathe, and speak bird and their enthusiasm has now spread to the rest of the family. I would pick cotton poplin in the Red Eye Verio print and make my mom a tote bag with matching phone cover, my dad an eyeglass holder, matching A-Line skirts for my sister and my 2-year-old niece, and for myself a Hazel sundress (I live in San Diego so I can still get away with wearing a sundress, especially one made with this fall print and a little cardigan thrown over top).

Love the whimsy of the prints and love the birds! I see a dress, pajamas or a colorful lining for a jacket; I just purchased a new pattern and these fabric colors are perfect to add a splash of color for a winter cover-up. Oh but wait! Purses for the wedding party of my granddaughter, or my daughter’s best friend’s new baby’s nursery, or my….

Love the cardinals! I would totally use some (most?) of the 5 yards for Christmas items: stockings, a tree skirt, napkins, a braided fabric wreath like the one my mom made when I was little…

Why you are excited about the new Birch Fabrics’ Charley Harper collection?

Organic, number one! Bold prints in beautiful colors! The cardinals!

What you would do with 5 yards if you win.

I would probably hoard it forever, but if i worked up the courage i’d probably make a fair amount of small things. Kindle cover, little skirt, and a hairband. Or maybe a 60s inspired shift dress. I might have enough for it all!

Erica

November 1, 2013 #

I’m excited because I LOVE fabrics with tree prints, but most of the ones I find in stores aren’t cute; they’re dull. I would probably use the fabric to make a collared shirt or to line a jacket.

Whitney A.

1. The new Charley Harper Collection is really nice, the palette is right up my alley.
2. Just in time for a test home decor project that I wanted to do. The five yards will allow me to make samples of pillows and see if I can use it for the whole house.

I think the colours are amazing and inspiring, particularly the blues with gold, brown and gray. My dining room has a similar colour scheme using the blue tones. If I had 5 yards I would make a patchwork table runner with matching place mats!

Jessica

I love Charley Harper, and I’m always on the lookout for awesome prints on knits besides stripes and polka dots! Five yards would easily make a dress, probably out of that bottom bird print… :D

Up here in the Canadian praries you just don’t see fabri like this. I absolutely feel in love with this fabric and have slowly been allowing myself a half yard to a yard at a time. My husband only gets to see the completed products and then I show him the bill. This fabric made my
Mother gasp and she ordered fabric over from Italy many years back to make my grad dress.
I have made my son two Blank Slate V Neck t’s with the Elk Grove and twig pattern. If I won the five yards I would make myself a maxi skirt and then my boys infinity scarves with the rest. Thanks for the wonderful fabric!

Erin

The Charley Harper prints are just stunning–very mid century modern. Love the retro vibe. With 5 yards I would make a pleated, full skirted shirtwaist dress perfect for fall!

Wow! I discovered Charley Harper a few years ago when I picked up an alphabet board book for nannying. Now I have calendars :)

If I won, I’d definitely use the fabric to make a baby blanket or quilt. No baby yet for me, but I’d need a head start on it anyway :)

I just love those first 3 fabrics! They are in a perfect shade of red, organic, and really look like they are worth spending time on. My mother taught me to sew years ago, now when we get together we compare projects. She retires next year after a long career in education. I look forward to having more time to spend with her, and would love to make a Laurel dress in a few of those fabrics. I know every time I finish a sewing project she is proud.

WHAT??!! i’m so excited to hear about this shop so close to me but i didn’t know about. I have to get out of SLO more often! Oh, if i had 5 yards of charley harper fabric i would start by making an awesome carrying case for my nephew’s charley harper floor puzzles. But i’d probably have to make something for myself too. maybe a By Hand London Anna dress.

I love the great nature inspriation treated in a very cute graphic way. If I were to win 5 yards, I’d use it to make a cute mother/daugther day out dresses- Something vintage for my 1 year old and maybe a laurel or a macaron for me :)

Love the prints and the fiber quality. I would use the yardage for a two fold purpose in my fashion merchandising class. 1) I’d use small samples to help build our textile library and 2) for the students to use as they practice their new sewing skills sewing a small dress form pin cushion. Thanks!

Oh wow, I saw photos of the Charley Harper fabric from Birch from Quilt Market – amazing. I love his stuff. I would go for canvas for a new backpack or messenger bag or… flannel to make a cozy quilt backing for my Very First Quilt that I am in the process of finishing up! I am almost done piecing the top.

I knew of Fabricworm and I knew of Birch Fabrics (even have some in my stash) but I didn’t know about Birch Fabrics the shop. I’m so glad I got to learn more about this 3-armed company.

Ever since I learned of Charlie Harper I’ve been charmed by the prints. And 5 yards! I think that would have to become new chair cushions for a midcentury chair that I’ve been meaning to re-fresh. It is sitting sadly in the garage, waiting for me to find the perfect fabric for the cushions.

Rachel

November 1, 2013 #

I love Charley Harper’s prints, they’re so adorable! With five yards of those cute birdies, I’d make some knit tunics to layer and wear over leggings for when it gets colder!

Fabric Worm is amazing! Not only are their fabrics unique and wonderful, their service is equally fabulous. Last December I ran short of a specific fabric for the beach-themed Man Quilt I was making for hubby’s Christmas gift. I called in a panic just days before I was leaving for Mongolia and the one gal in the office during that holiday week (crazy sorry I don’t remember her name :( filled the order AND waived the overnight shipping fee!

1. I’m excited about this collection because I’m a big Charley Harper fan! I have a calendar of his artwork that I’m planning to frame some pictures from and I found a vintage cookbook that was illustrated by him that I absolutely love. I live near Birch and last time I went I saw the fabric in the back and wished that it had been released already!

2. I think if I won the five yards I would make some fun accessories for my house. Maybe some pillows, and probably a cute shirt too!

Peg

November 1, 2013 #

I would have to sit and admire it for a long time before doing anything with it! I bet I’d make myself a tote / bag from one of the many tutorials I’ve saved up over the years.

I am excited about this collection because of the cardinals that are on the prints. Cardinals remind me of my grandma who raised me. She passed ~5 years ago and I miss her every day. I would love to have this beautiful fabric to make a very special reminder of her- perhaps in combination with the other Charley Harper prints.

Sarah

I’m so excited about these fabrics! I drooled over the beautiful Harper needlepoint canvases at Purl Soho but just couldn’t justify the price. The fabric makes it possible to bring home some of his great style. My two little ones love birds, so I’d absolutely make a pair of quilts for them.

Charley Harper makes me smile and not just for 2 and 1/2 men!
If I was to win 5 yards, it would be immediately used for Christmas PJ pants. My kids are 23, 20 & 16 but they still expect to open one present on Christmas Eve and it is always PJs!

Karen

November 1, 2013 #

I am *beyond* excited about the Charley Harper fabrics! I’m a bird nerd and I adore his artistic style. With 5 glorious yards I would make quilts for my two boys – their rooms have a healthy dose of Harper already. Those fabrics use some of our favorite images!

It would be hard to decide between a cotton poplin or a knit! But I just got a copy of the English translation of Stylish Dress Book: Clothing for Everyday Wear by Yoshiko Tskuiori. I’d make a dress from this lovely fabric – and if there were anything leftover – a top as well!

LOVE charley harper! I’d make my daughter a really sweet classic dress.

Ann frederix

November 1, 2013 #

The fabrics look so cute. It’s not easy for us to order fabrics in USA because over 50 dollars we have to pay customs(is that the right word for the tax you pay to get something in your countrie?). Even if we win,we have to pay but I wouldn’t mind. If I would win, I would definitely make pouches for my friends charity-organisation. Her daughter died of anorexia a couple of year sago and every year they sell things they make themselves on the christmasmarket. This would certainly help them to earn some money for better care for patients with anorexia. Sorry for the misstaken I make in english.

I’m excited about this collection because I have a 14 month old daughter who ‘needs’ a cool teepee made in a gorgeous Charley Harper canvas – and that’s exactly what I’d do with my 5 yards! (Maybe with a matching pinafore – there’s nothing wrong with a girl matching her teepee, right?!)

Love love love birch fabrics, I love the Jay Cyn, love the Teagan White collections … And super excited about the Charley Harper collections, I have been a fan of Charley Harper works since forever and to make some of them available as fabric to sew with, that is just awesome!!

November 2, 2013 #

Love charley harpers designs I particularly like the bird ones (bird stuff everywhere in our house), saw that birch had done a fabric collection via Instagram. Had to find , need to have!!! My search led me to fabric worm (can’t order yet…….be still my bird like beating heart.. It will be on sale soon). Then my search brought me here ‘kismet’ I believe!!!

As it is getting chilly and dark the perfect thing to brighten my day would be some PJs made in cosy flannel -full of birdies of course- this is what I would make with my yardage. Perfect for Christmas morning PJs as would look good in the photos too

Elizabeth

November 2, 2013 #

November 2, 2013 #

I am excited about Charlie Harper because it is unusual, I have never seen such a groovy print in our fabric stores in Australia.
If I won five yards I would make skirts for myself and my daughter and my friend Amanda. That ought to use it up very nicely.

The new Charley Harper fabrics are amazing! They’re fresh, clean, modern and playful! I especially like the ones with birds on them. If I would win I would use the fabric to either make a dress for myself or new cushions for our couch!

Hannah

November 2, 2013 #

Oooooh so exciting!! These fabrics are stunning, and I love the nature-inspired yet funky designs… so unusual! They’re cute without being too twee, and because of the wide range of different colours and styles, you could do ANYTHING with them!!!

If I were the lucky winner, I would make myself a cosy flannel blouse or jacket to keep me warm on cold winter nights – I can just imagine one of those patterns would make a gorgeous warm jacket to wear on Bonfire night here in the UK!

November 2, 2013 #

Charley Harper’s designs are just beautiful – I love that they’ve now been used on fabric! I think I’d go for some knit to make one of Cake’s Tiramisu dresses, and maybe some flannel to use in a raggy-quilt as well.

Rachelle – Warming Crafts

November 2, 2013 #

I love the prints! I find most prints to fall into three categories: too quilty, too childish, or too colorful – so this collection is very refreshing!

If I had five yards I’d probably make a hawthorne (working on my muslin right now) and a pencil skirt (they’re my wardrobe essential and I make them any time I have enough fabric).

Amy

November 2, 2013 #

I’m so excited because you never see really fun prints in flannel!! Id totally make snuggly pjs for this grim English winter!

Marie

November 2, 2013 #

I think it’s great to have fabric options aside from standard cotton and I just love the little birds! I think I’d make lots of lovely ‘house’ things like curtains / cushions / a quilt perhaps, so that I could see it every day.

November 2, 2013 #

Oh…I <3 these fabrics. I have been looking for fabrics that depict wildlife that is in our area. I live in the Adirondack State Park in "UPSTATE" New York and these are just wonderful!!! Looking at them my favorites are "Feeding Station", "Upside Downside", "Bank Swallow Blue" and "White Breasted Nuthatch." I have downloaded some directions from Fabric.com for some wonderful totes and bags and these fabrics would work wonderfully. I would love to get the opportunity to receive 5 yards and to make these bags out of some Charley Harper fabric!!!!

The thing I love about Charlie Harper is that I can never pick my favorite design. There are so many beautiful ones to choose from. I have my eye on a few designs in canvas for cushion covers and would love to have some jammie’s in knit or flannel.

Nina

November 2, 2013 #

These prints look modern and a bit retro at the same time, and lovely that they’re on organic cotton to protect the planet. I think I’d use some of the knits to make cosy winter tops…

Adri H.

November 2, 2013 #

I’m excited about the Charley Harper collection because the prints are just gorgeous! I love the mid-century feel to the illustrations. Lets see with 5 yds…
1 yd – small bag lining
2 yds – a pair of lounge pants
2 yds – a quilt back, a nice way to leave the print intact, and visible when folded over
scraps – quilting and patchwork!

This is my first introduction to Birch Fabrics. Thanks, there is some lovely stuff. The Charley Harper collection is very nice and would make a wonderful initiative for me to create a quilt, something I have never done before. If I didn’t make a quilt, then the fabric would surely go towards making another awesome Laurel mashup as well as several Christmas prezzies.
