Oh, I just love all of these. My husband is a huge Cardinals fan, so I’d probably whip up some cardinal-themed clothes for the kids… And that dandelion print would make a wonderful dress for me!

I love mustard, nature and birds which is exactly what the new Charlie harper range includes!!! On my new pattern to make list is a sewaholics zip up windbreaker. I’d love 5 yards of canvas so I can jump on that sewaholic bandwagon and get a (very needed) new mustard coat :)

I just started a small home run business a few weeks ago (I sew toys, plushies and accessories for kids) in which I love to incorporate modern fabrics AND my little man (2 1/2) loves red birds. I got very exited to see Charley Harper on fabricworm.com. I love that the fun and colorful line is available in organic cotton! If I would win, I would dedicate 3 yards to my son and make him a “Rollie Pollie” bean bag chair by DanaMadeIt.com and the remaining 2 yards would go towards projects to sell, like crayon rolls. Such a fun line!

Laura

November 4, 2013 #

Very exciting! With 5 yards… I’m thinking I would pick something really vibrant to be the lining of a jacket and then make a coordinating bag.

I love Birch! I’m from Paso Robles (where the storefront is located) and swing by whenever I’m in town. I live in Arroyo Grande now, which isn’t too far away, but it’s always a treat to stop in and shop :)

With the fabric I would make the Christine Haynes Emery dress.

I would love 5 yards of that wonderful fabric. I am obsessed with cotton/organic cotton because of the year-round warm climate of where I live. Everything must breathe! I would probably make another one of my Moroccan-inspired tunic dresses with part of the yardage. The other part would be used as a treat…a new pattern? Who knows?! It would be wonderful to work with such lovely fabric, whatever the project.

I love colourful prints but I don’t have many coordinating clothes, so I’d have to go for a whole outfit. I think the patterns deserve showing off and I’d be very tempted to try making my first kimono. :-D

As an illustrator I am always marveling at Charley Harpers timeless designs. As a seamstress I would use the 5 yards for a dress that showed off the print and a couple of pillows for the couch. The fabric designs seem right for both apparel and home dec stuff.

My mother-in-law and I share a passion for sewing and this is something that is uniquely ours–its our thing. In September and October, we set a side some time and we made red velvet jumpers for the little girls in the family. We accomplished so much and enjoyed our time together. She has a quilting sewing machine that she would like to show me how to use. My 5 yards of fabric, I would strength a familial bond and have something that I could proudly say I made with my m-i-l.

This is so exciting!! I have just started up a sewing alteration & design business here in Pittsburgh, and I am dedicated to only using organic and recycled materials. I just started my blog too, and am committed to showing people that you can create anything your heart desires using these Eco and human friendly materials (especially with the options that Birch is giving us- thanks ladies!!!). If I win the fabric giveaway, I will use the five yards to make a dress for myself, and one for a friend, and blog(brag) about both of course ; )

I’m excited about Charley Harper’s cute retro nature motifs, and the lovely cool colors. With five yards, I’d make a couple of Laurel blouses for friends, then use what’s left to sew for my baby (and probably a friend’s baby as well. Can’t help myself!)

November 5, 2013 #

I love that the fabrics aren’t cute at all. The graphic design is striking and definitely unusual, but not adorable.

I have a great 1940s housedress pattern (yes, a decade early) that would look smashing in the birdfeeder fabric. http://www.decadesofstyle.com/vintage-patterns-1940s/4002-1944-housedress

Charley Harper’s Desert poster has hung in my home for years and I have always been charmed by his aesthetic view. If I had 5 yards of his fabric, I would undoubtedly make the most beautiful dress I have ever owned. Maybe a full skirted vintage pattern or one of my colette collection.

Shelley

November 5, 2013 #

I love the vibrant, modern prints, something my wardrobe could use more of. I’d probably make a dress or top/skirt combo with a vintage/retro vibe :)

I’m a North Carolina native, and Charlie Harper always made me think of home. As a family, we have a Christmas Eve tradition of opening one present that was always Christmas pajamas. This year I moved far away, but my family will be coming from NC to join me for Christmas. I would take the cardinal print (NC’s state bird) and make matching PJ’s for everyone (at least pajama pants!). We can have a little of Carolina with us.

Here in sugar cane country in rural Queensland, Australia, I have to drive an hour to get to a fabric store. But we’re not country hicks, we know who Charley Harper is and what fabulous artwork he’s done. Our church group is running a fund-raising market stall soon so we’d sew bunting, table runners and napkins, travel bags and tags and little purses. We could make 5 yards of unique fabric go a long way!

1.Why you are excited about the new Birch Fabrics’ Charley Harper collection.
KNITS!!! That alone is very exciting, but I love the patterns as well. Those birds and trees are great!

2.What you would do with 5 yards if you win.
A knit top for sure and I’d love a quilt out of the either the cotton or the flannel.

I am excited for this new collection because it is only cute and fun, which makes sewing that much better. I’d use the poplin or knit to make a dress, and end up using some of the remainder in a scarf or to make something matching for my sister.
