Coming soon…

If you’ve paid close attention to this blog, facebook, or certain recent interviews, you may have a pretty good idea of the pattern we’ve been working on. And I have to say, it is one of my favorite patterns ever. I’m restraining myself from gushing about it too much for now, but I’m sure you’ll like it as much as I do.

The final pattern bits arrived from the printer today, and will be in the shop quite soon, so start thinking about which guys in your life deserve a lovingly handmade shirt.

I so worry about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweater_curse so I’d probably just make one for myself. I’m totally going through a drowning-in-a-HUGE SHIRT phase.

Haha, the sweater curse kept me from knitting Kenn a sweater for quite a while. It doesn’t take nearly as long to make a shirt, though… I’ve made him two already!

I’m very excited for this new pattern. There are so few mens patterns out there and I know yours will have a great vibe and be a joy to make.

I really look forward to it and a gigantic thank you Sarai!

You’re right that there are few men’s patterns. I did a bit of research of course before designing this, and there is hardly anything out there. I think some of the details typical of men’s shirts are intimidating and hard to explain in a typical pattern’s instructions. That’s why this CP pattern is so awesome, I think. I did a ton of illustrations and explained things very thoroughly, so it’s hopefully more of a learning experience.

Funny… when we were taking the pictures of the shirt on the model, I joked that he should run to the beer shop across the street and pick one up to complete the PNW vibe we had going!

Ooh how exciting! I was just thinking that it doesn’t seem right that it’s only my female relatives getting handmade gifts from me this Christmas…

How exciting. Can’t wait to see what it looks like. Hope there are a range of useful sizes. My dear husband, like me, is really not tall………..

I had hoped for a shirt when I read that you were making a male pattern! I know someone that is going to be very happy. Will the pattern be online in December?

Sarai

Yes, we’re hoping to have it online by the end of the week if possible!

Oh wow–I cannot wait for this! I’ve been thinking I need to make my husband some nice shirts, since all the ones I find tend to be too pricey for our clothing budget. I’m so glad CP is branching out into guy’s patterns too!

You will like it I think, Casey! It’s a very classic/vintage style but less boxy.

Can’t wait! Your patterns are amazing! I will be so nice to sew for the men in my life, a new one for me.

It’s really fun to sew menswear, because once you’ve mastered a few techniques, there’s SO much you can do, since most men’s shirts are all constructed basically the same way. You just change fabric and details and you can make all these really cool variations on the theme.

Thank you so much for publishing this! I can´t wait for it to arrive. It is sooo hard to find decent mens patterns out there – there are a million ladies pattern for each mens.

Very exciting news!
