Introducing Snippets: Weekly Sewing Tips by Email

Here it is, folks! Our free weekly sewing tips delivered by email, which I mentioned last week.

Snippets delivers handy sewing tips right to your inbox every Tuesday. I love this format for sewing tips because:

  • Sewing is about continual learning, and you can get that learning delivered to you.
  • You learn new things in easy little bite-sized chunks.
  • The emails are short, and each is illustrated by a lovely photo.
  • If you get one you really like, you can print it out, save it for later, or forward it.
  • You learn things that might be unexpected.
  • You’ll hear about tons of different topics.
  • The tips are suitable for beginners, but even more advanced seamstresses will undoubtedly pick up something new.
  • It’s super easy to unsubscribe.
  • It’s totally free.

I think of them as little reminders to try something new and stretch your skills.

Will these “snippets” also be posted on the blog?

Sounds like a good idea!

No, these are just for people who sign up, though I’m sure there will be a little cross over now and then.

I’m hopeful that you won’t misuse, sell, share, or otherwise reveal (inadvertantly or not) subscriber email addresses; I’ve been burned before. Please tell me – is it so?!

Thank you! I will be looking forward to this! There are so many things that pattern directions tell me to do, and I have such a hard time flipping through sewing books, browsing you tube, and googling that I hardly get actual sewing done. In the end, I learn by doing, but at the cost of my projects! If you could start out with the most common pattern instructions and work up from there, you’d have material for a lifetime, I’m sure. And I will be very grateful to you! <3

I love you snippets and have learned so much from them even after 45 years of sewing (and of course, I started really young :) . I am currently participating in the Vintage Pattern Library 1912 project which is sewing from vintage 1912 patterns that are being re issued. This is the blog address and the project I am currently working on. http://vpll1912project.org/2012/03/22/ladies-blouse-1000/
Your recent snippet would be so helpful to those working on the blouse who range from experienced to beginners. I would like to post a reference to your snippet could not find it on your webpage. If it is not on your web, could I request permission to repost your tips on the VPL site and my blog above (historical frontier clothing and history) with all the appropriate references.
Thanks again for such the easy to understand and useful “Snippets”.

I’ve just subscribed to Snippets and I’d like to know if there’s any way I can get previous Snippets newsletters as I understand they’re different from the tips and tutorials section in the blog. Thanks.
