The beautiful & talented seamstresses of Boston

greys-fabric-000

We’re on the road right now in Boston, and I just had to share a few of these photos from the fantastic party Grey’s Fabric threw for us the other night.

I met so many talented and creative women that night; not only sewists, but knitters, dyers, designers, teachers, and entrepreneurs. It’s so energizing to be in a room surrounded by so all these incredible and creative people.

And I must give a shout out to Sarah Grey and her staff for going all out with this event. You couldn’t ask for a nicer group of people, and the shop is just so inviting and lovely. You may even notice that Sarah served a cocktail named after our kitty, Basil!

For those of you in New York, don’t forget about our upcoming party this Saturday at Brooklyn General Store! RSVP here.

It’s too funny that several of us seem to have zoned in on the same picture… Personally I would love to have the froggy measuring tape! :) Looks like a lovely evening.

I need to alter cotton shorts with pockets. They are too wide and bulky in the waist and just below the waist. They also have pockets. Am beginning sewer

Thanks, Sarai, for visiting little ol’ us! It really made me feel special :D

I also wanted to link to Liz’s Etsy shop for those darling cupcakes, though if you’re in town, you can pick one up at the shop!

Sounds like a fabulous party! I will be travelling to Boston a couple of times next fall so good to know where I must stop for sewing fun. Also, thanks for the picture of that awesome sewing themed tattoo – very inspiring! Will you guys make it to Toronto sometime in the near future?

Nothing planned right now, but who knows? I haven’t been to Toronto in many years!

I think we could wear you out planning trips here there and everywhere!! How bout, just stay home and make great patterns we can purchase? Thanks for the great tutorials. It’s like my Grandma came back and inspired me to re-sew. Nice color on the women’s arm at the party.

Me? I was wearing my rose gold Dieppa Restrepo loafers seen here. I wanted to bring heels, but I try to pack light when I travel!

Looks like such a fun party! Are you coming back to the Bay anytime soon? I only started learning to sew right after the last time you came to town and I was so bummed that I’d JUST missed it!

Oh my word, that sewing tattoo half-sleeve has blown my mind – it’s pretty much the coolest thing I’ve seen all week.
