Featured Seamstress: Anna
Name: Anna
Skill Level: Intermediate
Pattern: Hazel
Her blog: Paunnet
Her post about the pattern: Sew Colette 2.0.: Thai Hazel
What kind of fabric did you use? I used a vintage batik that I got as a gift from my boyfriend’s father. I mentioned in my blog post that it’s from Thailand, but it’s actually from either Indonesia or Vietnam.
How did you decide to reflect your personal style in the pattern? I basically live in dresses, so I knew the Hazel pattern was made for me as soon as I saw it: it’s feminine but very comfortable (bra-friendly straps are very important in my book). For this version, I decided not to emphasize the diagonal style lines of the bodice and to let the fabric shine. I also tend to wear a lot of black, so this loud print is a great injection of colour to my wardrobe.
What thoughts do you have about the project? I’m absolutely thrilled! The pattern is simple and quick to sew, the instruction are very clear and the fit was spot on without any alterations: maximum results with minimum efforts. I foresee more Hazel dresses in my sewing list! I’ve already worn this dress many times and got several compliments on it; I still haven’t shown it to my boyfriend’s father, but I’m sure he’ll like it.
