Featured Seamstress: Lara

Name: Lara

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Pattern: Hazel

Her Website: Motion is Overrated

Her post about the pattern: Anybody still here? I have pictures in this post!

What kind of fabric did you use? A very pretty floral cotton poplin from Fabricmartfabrics.com.

How did you decide to reflect your personal style in the pattern? I’m not actually sure that this reflects my current style, more like the style that I am aspiring to have/wear. I have gone so many years dressing in jeans, t-shirts, and yoga pants that I almost forgot what style was! Sewing is my attempt at fixing this, and this dress is the kind of thing I want to wear on a regular basis. That being said, I guess the colour of the fabric would be the one thing that is very ‘me’. I have a tendency to choose dark colours, chalk it up to years of having to wear black as a musician. My next version of this dress is going to be a bolder colour, that’s for sure!

What thoughts do you have about the project? I LOVE this pattern! It was very easy to work with, and the end result is just gorgeous. The day I wore it to work, I got nothing but compliments, and it’s just made me more eager to make the next one. Anyone contemplating trying this pattern, go for it! It’ll be the cutest sun dress in your wardrobe!

Thanks, Lara!

Yipee!!!!!! Congrats to you! What a beautiful dress on you! You convinced me to get this pattern sewn. I have owned it (pattern), I just haven’t sewn it. Seeing you looking so stunning in it is all it takes. Happy to see you in the Coletterie- featured, well deserved!

Wow, I thought I was the only one. I am blessed with curves, but not curves that fit clothes in all the right places. I had a lightbulb moment last year when I realised that I don’t actually like jeans and that I crave style!
