Behind the scenes at our photoshoot

red-cross-shoes

I thought I’d share a few behind the scenes snapshots I took at our shoot. It was a lot of fun to put together, especially since I had the talent of my good friends Lisa and Rebecca (of Urban Weeds fame), and the lovely Kassandra of The Ginger Suite Salon doing hair and makeup.

As an aside, the shoes above are amazing, aren’t they? The brand is called Red Cross, and they have a little disclaimer on them that says that they are in no way affiliated with the American Red Cross. I did a little research, and apparently Red Cross shoes were manufactured starting around the turn of the century, but during WWII the American Red Cross objected to the commercial use of the name. So I imagine these shoes can be dated to the war era.

jewelry

The accessories are pretty much all vintage. Some are my own, and others were sourced by myself and Rebecca.

We shot everything at The Cleaners, a perfect naturally lit space at the Ace Hotel. We fancied up the simple white walls with spray painted frames, an idea inspired by an old issue of Blueprint (RIP).

pin-curls

Kassandra from Ginger Suite Salon did an amazing job on hair and makeup. She is a talented lady with an adorable little salon, if you are in the Portland area. Here you can see Jade with tons of perfect pincurls.

And what photoshoot would be complete without cupcakes? I picked up these mini cupcakes from Saint Cupcake to keep our energy up. Photo shoots are fun, but especially with the help of so many ultra-talented women.

Yay! Thanks for the behind the scenes shots. Any more photos from the actual shoot that you loved but didn’t use for some reason?

How utterly fun! :) I always love these behind-the-scenes snapshots (almost as much as the finished shoot); it lends such life and gives a peek into the background workings.

I’m drooling over those shoes… They’re gorgeous! :D
