Needlework Night at Colette Patterns!

needlework-night

I’ve been talking about this forever, but we’re finally going to do it… a monthly craft night here at the studio!

Our first one will be next Thursday, June 27 at 6:30PM.

Bring along your hand sewing, your mending, your knitting, or whatever other needlework you want (I plan to work on my quilt or shorten a dress). We’ll be sitting around and crafting and relaxing.

Our space is a bit limited, so I’m asking folks to reserve a spot by getting a free “ticket” through eventbrite. It’s totally free*, but there’s an option there to kick in a few bucks for wine and snacks if you’d like. The details and location are also on the eventbrite page.

* ETA: It turns out that EventBrite is requiring the donation to be at least a dollar. I’m not sure why, but since folks have already registered, I’m going to leave it as is and try to fix this for the next one so it’s free.

ETA Again: The June night is now full! Stay tuned for the next event in July.

That sounds wonderful….a bit far from Edinburgh, sigh….

We’ve been doing a similar event with a couple of crafty friends for half a year already. It’s especially great for finally finishing all the small things you’ve been postponing: mending, hand-finishing a hem etc. Though, I have to say, that I’ve begun drinking a lot more wine than I was used to before!

It’s nice that you thought to include mending. At the library where I work, there’s been a knitting night every week for a while, and recently they are also inviting crocheters, etc. But mending! (although many women these days don’t bother)

This sounds so fun! I just tried to register, and would certainly be glad to contribute a few bucks, but am a little confused by Eventbrite – does it require a processing fee? How do I sign up for one spot and contribute more or less than $1 (if I type “1” in the Amount field, it takes me to PayPal and changes my total to $2.02 without any explanation of the extra $1.01…not a big deal dollar-wise but confusing). Thanks!

Sorry, eventbrite can be very confusing. I managed to eliminate the processing fee, but eventbrite is requiring the “optional” donation to be $1 for some reason. That wasn’t my intent, but since some folks have already registered, I’ll have to leave it for this month and try to make it totally free for next month.

This is the only time in my entire life I’ve ever wanted to live in Portland. Haha! Wish I could join! :)

I think we need to start a Southern California one too. :)

Mending & hand sewing would probably go a lot quicker if I knew I had others who were suffering along with me, like studying in a library. Also, the chatting would pass the time quicker too!

Oh! How wonderful! I hope you’ll post pictures for us sad sacks that live too far away to join in on the fun.

That sounds really fun! Maybe I should think about seeing if anyone would be interested in my area.

Oh! I’m in Seattle, which is so close, yet so far. Wish I could make it!

Are there any Seattleites out there who’d be interested in something similar up here?

I’m very interested in attending. I am planning to be at the July 27 event. However, I’ve had nothing but trouble with PayPal. I’ll be happy to kick in a few bucks when I arrive.

So sad I’ll be missing out! Maybe some day I’ll make it west.
