A Common Thread

Mena at The Sew Weekly is doing this really cool little project in which she sends sewing bloggers five yards of some lace, asks them to make something with it, and then write about it.

Well, my project is up now, so take a look! I tried to do something a little different with the lace rather than just use it as an edge trim, and I think it came out pretty well!

I used surface cording, piping, bias binding, and layers of lace on a silk gazar backing to create a little illusion yoke on this simple vintage blouse.

Stunning! It’s like a built-in necklace. Lovely color to match the lace, too… I don’t think I’d want to take it off.
