Inspiring fall fabrics

I thought I’d share a few of the fabrics I’ve been seeing online that I wish I could snatch up, many of which are from our beloved retailers.

There are plenty of silks, wools, and a bit of linen and rayon thrown in. I’m pretty partial to neutrals and menswear-ish things at the moment, but can’t help but throw in some saturated Fall color.

What fabrics, colors, and prints are inspiring you guys right now?

Row 1: (1)Essex yarn dyed cotton/linen in flax from Sew Mama Sew, (2) Grey virgin wool from Hart’s Fabric, (3) grey stripe linen from fabricmade,(4) boldy graphic silk from Gorgeous Fabrics, (5) Herringbone plaid woolen from Hart’s Fabric

Row 2: (1) Embroidered dot silk dupioni from Hart’s Fabric, (2) Ikat stripe digitally printed silk from Hart’s Fabric, (3) red houndstooth flannel from fabric.com, (4) 4-ply silk crepe in blossom from Gorgeous Fabrics, (5) Toasty pumpkin wool flannel from Britex

Row 3: (1) curry yellow wool from fashion fabrics, (2) silk faille in kaffir lime from Gorgeous Fabrics, (3) Bromley voile from Sew Mama Sew, (4) blue rayon challis ikat from Hart’s Fabric, (5) royal blue silk crepe from fashion fabrics

I have had my eye on the Hart’s silk Ikat for months (and the V&A voile for that matter). I think it would make a gorgeous skirt.

It really would! Or a simple shift dress, I’m thinking (which is almost all I’ve been making and wearing lately!)

I love the Bromley voile from Sew Mama!

Because I’ve been sewing A LOT of lingerie lately, lace has been on my mind. Even though it’s cold outside, I’m into sheers.

Ooooh the Bromley voile and Ikat are my favorites too. I love getting ideas from online fabric stores but I very rarely buy fabric online, I feel like its such a gamble. I am sewing a few things for myself right now with some bold colored silk prints I got on sale this summer, and I really want to get some wools to make some basic skirts for the fall/winter.

I am trying very hard not to fall in love with that voile, but so far it’s not going well. I have too much love for floaty, vintagy tops.

And that toasty pumpkin wool flannel? It’s screaming at me to be made into a pair of Junipers… it’s going to have to pipe down and get in line behind my other projects….

Isn’t that color amazing? I am so into warm browns and almost-browns lately. They go with everything.

I’ve been thinking of making Clover again in a tangerine wool stretch crepe and lining them with stretch silk. Woo-hoo! And I have some purple and white herringbone checked flannel, like number 5 row 1 to make a tunic like one I saw in the Boden catalogue. Thinking about electric blue, too. Sewing is on my mind!

I saw some amazing electric cobalt wool gab at a local shop the other day. I had to restrain myself because I don’t even wear colors like that, but it’s soooo pretty.

I’ve made Clovers in wool lined with silk! It works well.

The kaffir lime silk from Gorgeous Fabrics is stunning…I love those types of colours. When made into a simple garment with simple lines, the colour really has a chance to speak. Too bad it’s going into summer here in Oz…but will have to do some pre-emptive stash adding :)

Agreed, and also silk faille is one of those hard to find fabrics that just looks so beautiful. I like this color paired with navy too.
