Blog Name Contest & Giveaway Winners

Colette has asked to help announce the winners of the recent blog naming contest (since there was so much discussion about her role in the company), as well as the Negroni giveaway.

The winner of the Negroni pattern (as chosen by the random number generator) was Jessica of the blog Running With Scissors. Congrats Jessica, and I hope your husband loves his new shirt!

Now for the tough (i.e. not randomly chosen) winner of the blog naming contest. With well over 200 comments (many with lots of suggestions), it was a tough call, which is why it took us a while. There were some great ideas in there, and Colette was particularly fond of the names that alluded to her black catness. But in the end, we decided to go with Tasha‘s suggestion: The Coletterie. I think it’s pretty perfect. We’re planning to give the site and blog a bit of a refresh in the next couple months, so the name will take effect then.

Thanks for all your help everyone! You really came up with some great suggestions, and I definitely know where to turn the next time we have a naming dilemma.

Coletterie! I loved that one too. Makes me feel like I’m window shopping on a street in Paris :)

Wow, that’s a nice photograph of Colette. Does she really have one green eye and one blue eye?

I think “The Coletterie” is a good name because people will actually use it. Like naming the Canadian $2 coin a twoonie. There was some talk of calling it a “Bear”, but I think if they had called it that, people would have just referred to it as “The $2 coin”.

If you had named it “modern vintage sewing” (which name I really like by the way, I’m not dissing the person who came up with it) or something like that, people would probably refer to it as “modern vintage sewing, you know, the Colette Patterns Blog”.

Ah, I think it’s just the light in the photo! Her eyes are the same color, a lovely golden-green.

Great name! I agree, it’s like the ziploc bag, it’s a quick, easy and catchy name that’s sure to be used and remembered! :)

Congrats to Tasha for coming up with the catchy new blog-title! I love it for the same reason that others mentioned above: it’s memorable and differentiates the blog a bit from the rest of the site, but not so much as to make it separate. It also rolls off the tongue a bit easier than “the Colette Patterns blog”. ;)

Congratulations Tasha, I really liked that one, too!

At first I thought it would be a better name for a shop, but it also reminds me of “causerie”, an old french word I find very pleasant!
